Your account

Delete your SimWerk account.

You can delete your account in the app or by email. This page says how, what goes, what stays and why, and how long it takes.

In the app

  1. Open the SimWerk app at app.simwerkus.com (or the iPhone or Android test app, if you are testing it) and sign in.
  2. Go to Me and tap Delete my account. If Me has a Settings button, it is under Settings → Your data instead.
  3. Confirm it is you: type your password. (An account made with Google has no password and confirms with Confirm with Google instead; Google sign-in is only available when we turn it on. If you cannot confirm, use the email path below.)
  4. Type DELETE in capitals and tap Delete my account again.

The deletion happens at once. You are signed out on every device. It cannot be undone, so if you want a copy of your data first, use Download my data in the same place on app.simwerkus.com in a web browser (the phone apps cannot save the file yet).

By email, without the app

If you cannot open the app or cannot sign in, email info@simwerkus.com from the address on your account, with the subject Delete my account. Tell us your display name or handle if you can.

We will check that the request comes from you, usually by replying to that address, and then delete the account for you. We will not treat you differently for asking.

What is deleted

  • your email address, display name, date of birth and password;
  • your handle (it can be used again), your avatar color, your home venue and your Instagram username;
  • your team memberships and requests, and any link to a Google account;
  • your sign-ins, and the notifications you turned on in a web browser;
  • your help requests and start requests at venues;
  • your SimWerk for Windows waitlist answers, your rivalries, and your Road entries and crews; and
  • the name, Windows name, fingerprint and key of the PCs connected to your account, which are cleared at once, and the iRacing codes on your laps (see SimWerk for Windows in our Privacy Policy).

What is kept, and why

Laps
Your laps, their telemetry, your check-ins and your remote launches stay, on an anonymous account with no name or other link to you. They show as Deleted driver, so that past leaderboards and events still add up and nobody else's rank changes.
Waiver record
We keep the record that your account confirmed a venue's waiver: the venue, the form, the time and the app version. It no longer has your name or your IP address. We keep it as proof that drivers confirmed the waiver. The signed waiver itself is held by the waiver service and the venue, not by the SimWerk app.
Orders
We don't take payments in the app today. If we turn them on and you pay for driving time, the order stays as a sales record, without your name, for 7 years, because tax and accounting rules require us to keep it. The payment company keeps its own record.
Free time from staff
The record that staff gave a session free time stays, without the staff member's note.
Backups and logs
Copies made before you deleted your account still hold your information for a short time: our hosting provider's backups roll off within about a week, and server logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted. If we keep a backup copy of the database in our company Google Drive, it can still hold your account until we delete that copy. If we ever restore a backup, we delete the accounts that were deleted after it was made again.

Our Privacy Policy has the full list of what we keep and for how long.

How long it takes

In the app, at once. By email, we confirm within 7 days that the account is deleted. Backups and logs clear on their own schedule, as described above.
