PlayStation direct drive on a SimWerk Core or Grand

In our lineup, one direct-drive wheelbase runs on PlayStation: the Thrustmaster T598 Servo Base. It runs on PS5, PS4 and PC, and it fits the SimWerk Core and the SimWerk Grand. Here's how to build a PlayStation rig around it.

Why the T598

The T598 Servo Base is Thrustmaster’s direct-drive base for PlayStation and PC, and the one base in our configurator that runs on PS5 and PS4. Thrustmaster rates it at 5 N·m constant torque, with overshoot up to +100% on force peaks. It uses an axial-flux direct-drive motor (Thrustmaster’s Direct Axial Drive) with no cogging, and the Race Dash screen on the base shows settings and game data.

What plugs in on PlayStation

On PlayStation the T598 is the hub of the rig: the wheel clips onto it, and the pedals, shifter and handbrake plug into it. Here is the Thrustmaster gear for a PlayStation build, and how each part connects.

What makes a build PC-only

  • Gear from other brands. The MOZA, Asetek Racing, Heusinkveld and Cube Controls gear in our configurator runs on PC (some MOZA gear also on Xbox with the ESX wheel; the configurator tells you which), not on PlayStation.
  • Motion. In our configurator, adding motion takes a build off PlayStation. The MOZA HMA150 runs from a Windows PC; for the SimWerk 4DOF or 7DOF with a console, ask us. For PlayStation, leave out motion.
  • What doesn’t matter. SimWerk seats, display stands and modules go on a PlayStation build the same as on a PC build.

Thrustmaster firmware updates for the base, wheels and pedals install from a Windows PC (Thrustmaster’s My Thrustmaster Panel software), so you need one for updates. Game support varies by title.

On Xbox instead? Thrustmaster also makes a T598 for Xbox and PC, sold as a set with a wheel and pedals ($599.99 on our Thrustmaster page).

FAQ

Questions

Does the Thrustmaster T598 fit the SimWerk Core and Grand?

Yes. The T598 Servo Base fits both the SimWerk Core and the SimWerk Grand, like the rest of the Thrustmaster gear we sell. Add it to a build in the configurator, or list it in the contact form for a quote.

Which Thrustmaster wheels can I use on the T598?

All five Thrustmaster wheels we list. The GT Wheel, the Ferrari SF-25 wheel and the Hypercar wheel use the next-gen quick release of the T598 and T818; the Ferrari 488 GT3 wheel and the EVO Racing Hub fit every Thrustmaster base with a detachable rim. The EVO hub takes one EVO rim, sold separately.

Can I use pedals or a shifter from another brand on PlayStation?

Our configurator keeps a PlayStation build to Thrustmaster gear, because on PlayStation the pedals, the shifter and the handbrake connect through the T598: the Raceline Pedals III LC, the TH8A shifter and the TSS Handbrake. Add MOZA, Asetek Racing or Heusinkveld gear and the build runs on a Windows PC.

Do I need a PC for a PlayStation rig?

For updates, yes. Thrustmaster firmware updates for the base, wheels and pedals install from a Windows PC with Thrustmaster's My Thrustmaster Panel software, and the Raceline Pedals III LC need their latest firmware, installed from a PC, before they connect to the T598 over RJ45.

Can I add motion to a PlayStation rig?

Not in our configurator: adding motion takes a build off PlayStation. The MOZA HMA150 runs from a Windows PC; for the SimWerk 4DOF or 7DOF with a console, ask us through the contact form. For a PlayStation build, leave out motion.

Is there a T598 for Xbox?

Yes. The T598 in these builds is the PlayStation and PC model. Thrustmaster also makes a T598 for Xbox and PC, sold as a set with the Sportcar wheel and the two-pedal Raceline Pedals LTE for $599.99 on our Thrustmaster page. In our configurator, Xbox builds use a MOZA base with the MOZA ESX wheel.

  • Prices: Thrustmaster's US store prices (September 28, 2026) and SimWerk MSRP. Subject to change. Tax, shipping and installation are quoted separately.
  • What runs on PlayStation: the same rules as our configurator's platform note.
